The Science and Technology Office of the Spanish Congress launches a programme to pair research personnel with legislators

Oficina C, a joint initiative of Congress and the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), has launched its first edition of Week C, a pairing programme aimed at promoting the exchange of knowledge between scientific professionals and members of Congress. Such programmes are already prevalent in the United Kingdom, Australia, and the European Parliament.

The Week C pairing programme aims to foster collaboration between researchers and scientists from various fields and members of the Spanish Congress of Deputies. The program will select ten researchers who will spend three days at the Spanish Congress of Deputies. During this time, they will attend training sessions on scientific advice to the legislature and shadow their assigned deputy.

The experience will provide selected researchers with an opportunity to gain insight into the inner workings of the House of Representatives and the newly established Oficina C. Additionally, members of the House will have the opportunity to strengthen their relationships with the scientific staff. The Oficina C program will take place over three consecutive days in the fall of 2022, with the date yet to be determined.

Interested research staff can apply for the program between July 14 and July 28 at 23:59. The application period will close either when one hundred applications are received or at the end of the application period, whichever comes first. Further information on the selection criteria, program conditions, and registration form can be found on the website www.oficinac.es.
