From 11th to 13th November, the third edition of the pairing scheme takes place, where scientists and Congress staff share knowledge and experiences to bring science closer to Parliament in an informal manner.

The third edition of the pairing scheme took place on 11-13 November, bringing scientists and Congress staff together for informal exchange of knowledge and experience. Scientists from all over Spain attended this edition, which began on 11th November, coinciding with the presentation of new topics by Oficina C at the Congress of Deputies.

During the event, the pairings for the second edition of this initiative were announced. The science-policy pairings, whose photos can be viewed here, include:

  • David Fernández-Rojo from the University of Deusto and Deputy Pablo Pérez Coronado from the Popular Parliamentary Group in Congress.
  • Ana López Antía from the Institute for Environmental Diagnosis and Water Studies of CSIC, and Deputy Javier Alfonso Cendón from the Socialist Parliamentary Group.
  • Estrella Díaz Sánchez from the University of Castilla-La Mancha and Deputy Jacobo González-Robatto from the Vox Parliamentary Group.
  • Juan Manuel García González from the Pablo de Olavide University and Pedro Peña, Clerk of the Spanish Parliament.
  • Blanca Biel Ruiz from the University of Granada and Deputy Etna Estrems Fayos from the Republican Parliamentary Group.
  • María José Escalona from the University of Seville and Deputy Josep Pagès i Massó from the Junts per Catalunya Parliamentary Group.
  • María Dolores Frías Navarro from the University of Valencia and Deputy Isabel Pozueta Fernández from the Euskal Herria Bildu Parliamentary Group.
  • Santiago Canals Gamoneda from the Neurosciences Institute of CSIC and Deputy María Isabel Vaquero Montero from the Basque Parliamentary Group (EAJ-PNV).
  • Jesús López Santiago from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and Néstor Rego Candamil from the Mixed Parliamentary Group.
  • Manuel Ruiz-Adame Reina from the University of Granada and Bárbara Cosculluela, Clerk of the Spanish Parliament.

The aim of this activity is to strengthen the ties between the worlds of science and policy. Over the course of three days, participating scientists immerse themselves in parliamentary activities, contributing their newly acquired knowledge to help consolidate the science-policy ecosystem, rather than focusing on technical work or scientific advisory tasks.
